Partner
Stewart Kellar is a partner at Beeson Skinner Beverly whose practice focuses exclusively on trademark law. With nearly two decades of trademark experience, Stewart advises emerging companies and established brands on building and managing domestic and international trademark portfolios. His approach is both strategic and practical, helping clients protect what they have built and positioning their brands for long-term growth.
Stewart’s practice encompasses clearance, application strategy, prosecution, maintenance, licensing, and dispute resolution. He works with clients across diverse industries and helps them align trademark protection with commercial objectives in the United States and abroad.
Stewart’s aptitude for trademark law began in law school, where he served as a research assistant and research fellow at the McCarthy Institute under Professor J. Thomas McCarthy, the author of McCarthy on Trademarks and Unfair Competition, the leading treatise on U.S. trademark law. This exposure gave Stewart a deep understanding of the principles, strategy, and nuance that define exceptional trademark practice and continues to inform his approach to brand counseling and advocacy.
Stewart represents clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and has significant experience with international trademark matters including proceedings through the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). He handles opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and counsels on trademark licensing, brand strategy, and enforcement. When comprehensive intellectual property protection is required, he also manages copyright registrations with the United States Copyright Office.
